Connect to WiFi - with your StarID (Students, Faculty, Staff)

StarLan will be discontinued as of 5/31/21. Please use eduroam instead.

Students and employees should connect their personal devices to eduroam, which is an international service for users in higher education. It provides students, faculty, and staff easy and secure network access when visiting the Normandale campus or any participating campus.

Connecting to eduroam

  1. On your device, select eduroam from the list of available WiFi networks.
  2. You will be prompted to sign into the network. Enter your eduroam credentials. Your password is your StarID password.
    1. Minnesota State provides the following eduroam credentials:
      1. Students:
      2. Faculty/Staff:
    2. Normandale also provides eduroam credentials that are easier to use on Android and Linux:
      1. Students & Faculty/Staff:
  3. You may be prompted to accept a security certificate. If this happens, verify that the certificate is from or from If so, click OK to accept.

If your device asks for more information, use the following settings:

  • Security: 802.1x EAP / WPA2 Enterprise
  • EAP Method: TTLS (Tunneled TLS)
  • Phase-2 (Inner) Authentication: PAP or GTC
  • Proxy Settings: none
  • IP Settings: DHCP
  • CA Certificate: Use System Certificates (no CA certificate required)
Note: If Use System Certificates doesn't work, please use Don't Validate
  • Domain:
  • Anonymous Identity:

Sometimes a device may prompt for authentication several times, even though the password is correct. If this happens, keep trying. Once the device has connected, it usually connects automatically from then on. If the device tells you that the password is invalid, though, it probably is. Re-enter and try again.
